Free Lunch and Breakfast for All Students
Great news for you and your children! All students at Apollo-Ridge School District can receive free healthy breakfasts and lunches during the 2022-2023 school year through the Community Eligibility Provision. What do you have to do?
- You do not need to do anything.
- You do not need fill out an application.
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) enables school districts in low-income areas to provide free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students. CEP eliminates the burden of filling out household applications. It also eliminates the administrative resources necessary to process those applications. All students receive breakfast and lunch at no charge, therefor they no longer have to worry about the stigma associated with free or reduced-price status.
Students will continue to receive the healthy breakfasts and lunches they’ve become accustomed to. School meals are packed with whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins, and milk. Hot and cold breakfast entrees are available each day. Various lunch entrees and alternative choices are offered daily.
By offering all students a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, CEP helps boost class participation. Research also shows that when students have access to nutritious foods, absenteeism, tardiness, and behavior issues decrease, and attentiveness and more desirable behaviors increase.
