SCHOOL BOARD SCHEDULES SPECIAL MEETING IN DECEMBER

The Apollo-Ridge School District will hold a special meeting for general business purposes on Monday, December 7, 2020 starting at 6:30. The meeting will be held virtually using Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions regarding the number of individuals permitted for indoor gatherings. Information on how to access this meeting will be provided on the district website www.apolloridge.com at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting.

PARENTS WITH PURPOSE NEEDS YOUR INPUT

Have you ever had questions about your child’s education but were afraid to ask? Are you worried about your child’s future and how you can support them? Do you want to know more about the opportunities and supports for your child within our community? “Parents with Purpose” is an upcoming workgroup for parents of school-age students with disabilities. Directed by The Arc of Indiana County and Local Task Force 28, the workgroup’s purpose is to provide parents with support, education, and advocacy.

TWO MORE STAFF MEMBERS AND A STUDENT TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

In addition to notifying you that tonight's school board meeting has been cancelled, the district received notification that a staff member at both the High School and Middle School, as well as an Elementary student tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals will not return to school until they have completed isolation procedures for COVID-19. All students and staff who were potentially in close contact, have received or will receive personalized communications from the school and/or Department of Health. If you do not receive additional communications from the school or Department of Health, your child is presently not thought to be among those who were potentially exposed. APOLLO-RIDGE RECEIVES SAFETY GRANT

Pennsylvania awards school safety grants to 150-plus districts
Recipients of funding include Freeport Area and Apollo-Ridge
HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) on Monday announced the recipients of more than $9 million in competitive 2020-2021 Safe Schools Targeted Grants — including two Armstrong County-based school districts.
The grants — which went to recipients including Freeport Area School District ($20,850) and Apollo-Ridge School District ($12,435) — are awarded to schools to prevent and reduce violent incidents, to purchase safety and security-related equipment, and to provide for the training and compensation of school resource and police officers.
