Student Laptop Collection Directions

At the end of Step-up Day, all students will report back to their homerooms.  The following are the directions homeroom teachers will follow to collect and store student laptops:

  • Each homeroom teacher will have a roster of their students that includes columns for the 3 items they need to turn in (Laptop, case, and laptop charger).
  • As students turn in their laptops, homeroom teachers will record the laptop number on the laptop in the column (if they turn one in), and will place a check for a case and a check for a charger (if turned in).  If either of the items are not turned in, please that that area blank for that student.
  • When turning in the items, please following the procedures for each grade level below:

6th Grade
  • Take the laptops out of the cases.
  • Place/stack the laptops on the one side of the 7th grade Mini Lab.
  • Have students write their first and last name on a Post It Note and place it on the inside of their laptop screen.
  • Take everything out of the laptop cases EXCEPT the name tags in the name plate area.  Be sure each case is labeled so they know whose case is whose next year.  Use post its if they are not labeled.  Place the post it with the students name on it and slide it in the name plate area on the laptop case.  Place the cases in a separate area of the 7th grade mini lab.
  • Be sure to place the charger inside of the case so that charger remains assigned to that particular student.
7th Grade
  • Take the laptops out of the cases.
  • Place/stack the laptops on the one side of the 8th grade Mini Lab.

  • Be sure to place the charger inside of the case so that charger remains assigned to that particular student.
8th Grade

  • Place/stack the laptops on the one side of the High School Room B102.
  • Take everything out of the laptop cases EXCEPT the name tags in the name plate area AND THE CHARGERS.  Be sure each case is labeled so they know whose case is whose next year.  Use post its if they are not labeled.  Place the post it with the students name on it and slide it in the name plate area on the laptop case.  Place the cases in a separate area of the High School Room B102.  Be sure the CHARGER and ONLY THE CHARGER is inside the case.  Everything else should be out.

  • Each grade level will turn in and “store” their laptops over the summer in the following locations:

6th Grade Laptops 7th Grade Mini Lab
7th Grade Laptops 8th Grade Mini Lab
8th Grade Laptops HS B102
  • Things to remember:
  • The incoming 6th grade students will get new laptops and new cases.
  • Current 6th grade (incoming 7th grade students) will use their current laptops and cases next year.
  • Current 7th grade (incoming 8th grade students) will use their current laptops and cases next year.
  • Please be sure to record their laptop number on the roster sheets homeroom teachers will be receiving.  If for some reason their isn’t a number on the laptop, please use a check mark signifying that they turned on in.
  • Remember, we have 45 minutes to do this.  Do all of your “disassembling” and record keeping IN YOUR HOMEROOMS.  Only go to the drop off location once all of the disassembling and record keeping has been done.  This will avoid major “Traffic jams” at the laptop turn in locations.
  • If you have any questions, please let me know.
