Gifted Education

Gifted Education

The Special Programs Office strives to work with families to meet the needs of all children at all ability levels.  The Apollo-Ridge School District believes that all students can be educated in the regular classroom by a highly qualified teacher that can differentiate the instruction to meet the needs of all students in the classroom.  The student that is identified as Gifted will be given various enrichment opportunities in his/her classroom.  In addition, an enrichment class can be scheduled to afford the opportunity to work on independent projects.  Teacher support is given during these times.  There is a link below to the district policy for Gifted services.

Ms. Danielle White oversees the Gifted Program at the MS/HS and Mrs. Afton Deceder oversees the Gifted Program at the Elementary.

If you have further questions, you can contact the Office of Special Programs.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) offers several resources that contain valuable information for parents with regard to gifted education, and the identification of those students who may qualify for gifted education services. Attached below is a PDF of guidelines published by PDE (clicking on this link will exit you from the Apollo-Ridge website).  Here is also a link to the Gifted website at PDE https://www.education.pa.gov/K-12/Gifted%20Education/Pages/default.aspx
