Welcome to the Apollo-Ridge
School District!
We are
a learning community consisting of approximately 1600 students from five
municipalities in Armstrong and Indiana Counties: Apollo
Borough, Blacklick Township (Indiana), Kiskiminetas
Township, North Apollo Borough, and Young Township
(Indiana). Each municipality is nestled in the Alle-Kiski
Valley and are within approximately one hour from
Pittsburgh; and ½ hour from Greensburg, Indiana or
Monroeville.
The
Apollo-Ridge School District provides a nurturing learning
environment where students can realize their full potential
for success:
-
Experienced and caring professional and administrative
staffs are focused on setting high expectations of
student performance in all subjects at all grade levels
for all students.
-
All courses of study are aligned with national, state,
and local standards that are infused into every
instructional lesson.
-
Class sizes average 21 students per class at the
elementary level; and, 23 students per class at the
secondary level, thus allowing time for more
individualized attention.
-
One computer is available to every three students at the
middle and high school levels.
-
PSSA assessment results in reading, writing and math are
above average.
-
75% - 85% of the graduates enter into a two or four year
post-secondary program.
Along with
maintaining the high quality of instructional and curricular
programming, the district is focused on "planning for the
future" during the 2005-2006 school year. All district
stakeholders are involved in the process of developing a
strategic plan for the district's future. This plan
will serve as a "blueprint" for the improvement of student
learning during 2006 through 2011. If you have any
suggestions relative to this plan, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Please
remember that the residential tax abatement program is
available for new home construction. No residential
taxes – school, township, county -- will be assessed on
your new home for your first two years of residence in our
district!
As
you can see, the Apollo-Ridge School District is someplace
special.
