District Goals

APOLLO-RIDGE SCHOOL DISTRICT 2004-2005 GOALS

DISTRICT WIDE

v         To improve student performance on the elementary PSSA reading, math, and writing assessments

v         To initiate and coordinate activities that support the District's theme, "Community Service"

v         To investigate and apply externally funded grants for operational and educational programming

 

   BUDGET/PERSONNEL GOALS

v         To improve the proficiency of district operations and programs

v         To investigate and explore methods to increase district revenues 

CURRICULUM/INSTRUCTION GOALS

v      To monitor and evaluate the implementation of the School-Wide Projects plan during the 2004-2005 school year for the purpose of increasing student achievement at the elementary level

v      To monitor the implementation of the new reading/language arts program at the elementary level

v      To investigate, evaluate and select an elementary mathematic program based on the state academic standards, research-based effective practices, and the district’s philosophy of mathematics instruction

v      To implement, monitor, and evaluate MAX Teaching strategies in all areas of the middle and high school curricula

v      To revise/develop the following planned courses of study in accordance with district, state, national, and/or subject area standards: middle school technology education, world history (grade 7), computer science(6-12),sociology, world cultures, and data driven advanced algebra

v      To provide professional development activities in the following areas:

• Elementary and secondary reading/language arts instruction

• Classroom Management

v      To coordinate the revision of the district's gifted education plan

 

TECHNOLOGY GOALS

v      To implement and utilize SASIxp as the new student management software by coordinating professional development, technical support, and data transition

v      To investigate and recommend a district-wide copier system with electronic filing capabilities for implementation in the  2005-2006 school year

v      To implement the new Point of Sale (POS) system at the Elementary building and facilitate the migration to a new system at the High/ Middle school cafeteria

v      To investigate student data management systems to determine the most effective system for the district

 

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT GOALS

v      To develop an emergency plan for the district campus

v      To ensure the quality of educational programming by utilizing/adapting district facilities for the purpose of enhancing the teaching/learning process

v      To develop district severe weather procedures for all personnel and students

 

STUDENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

v   To provide a safe learning environment for all students with the focus of the district staff on:

·         Reinforcement of positive behavior

·         Communication with students, parents, and staff members

·         Observation and monitoring of student behavior

·         Positive classroom management techniques

·         Adherence to district guidelines, procedures, and policies
